| In manufacturing industries such as those of the
automobile and aircraft, CAD data depends on the specific
CAD system. With regard to long-term CAD data archiving,
this dependence can cause various problems inevident in
the everyday use of CAD. For example, archived CAD data
can become unusable due to upgrades of the CAD system. In the manufacturing industries, the establishment of a mechanism of long-term CAD data archiving, independent from the specific CAD systems, is in belated demand. We propose a standardized format for long-term archiving of 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensonal CAD data using ISO 10303 ( STEP / AP202 and STEP / AP203 ). |
